Hyperliquid Expands into Outcome and Prediction Trading with HIP-4 Launch
Hyperliquid has unveiled HIP-4, a new initiative aimed at broadening its trading capabilities to include outcome and prediction markets. This development marks a significant expansion for HyperCore, which will now support an additional trading mode, thereby increasing overall platform activity.
The introduction of HIP-4 positions Hyperliquid as a versatile platform for options and predictions, diversifying beyond its current focus on perpetual futures trading. Outcome markets will be fully collateralized and settle within a fixed range, offering a lower-risk alternative to leveraged perpetual futures. The platform will also provide general-purpose primitives, enabling third-party applications to create custom prediction markets and options instruments.
HIP-4 follows the builder-driven model of its predecessor, HIP-3, which demonstrated rapid market responsiveness by quickly launching silver and gold trading. The new platform will feature dated contracts and derivative trading without leverage or liquidations, distinguishing it from traditional margin trading markets.
Currently in the testnet phase, HIP-4's live markets will launch after thorough testing. Settlements will be conducted in Hyperliquid's native stablecoin, USDH.
